Top Five Vacation Getaways Near Boston
August 5, 2022   |   Devonshire

Bostonians are always game for a laid-back weekend retreat. Whether unwinding in nature, or enjoying a scenic stroll through a gorgeous small town, there are plenty of options around the Devonshire. Here are our five favorite getaways near Boston:

Provincetown

Located at the tip of Cape Cod, Provincetown is a vibrant city with luxurious beaches. Known as “P-Town” by the locals, the area is teeming with restaurants, nightclubs, and speciality shops around Commercial Street.

This wonderful town (situated just two hours from Boston) is the place to be in any season! Did we mention that we highly recommend finding accommodations that overlook the majestic Atlantic Ocean?

Martha’s Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard has long been associated with getaways for the elite. But did you know that the island is also perfect for romantic weekend retreats and leisure.

On the southwestern tip of the island resides a popular tourist destination called Aquinnah Cliffs. The cliffside is a scenic retreat for sightseeing and hiking, the entire trek a scenic paradise consisting of clay bluffs.

Additionally, animal lovers can journey to Island Alpaca, and snap pics of the numerous alpacas that call the island home!

Berkshires

Arts and culture are the main attractions here for urbanites, including a myriad of theater, dance, music, film, galleries, and historic sites. The rural area is rife with outdoor foliage, including several farm-to-table gastroenterological foodie locations.

Outdoor enthusiasts can trek Monument Mountain, following in the footsteps of literary legends like Herman Melville, Nathanial Hawthorne, and Oliver Wendell Holmes.

This natural location features views over the Housatonic River Valley and Mount Greylock.

Lexington

This historically enriched area is home to Minute Man National Park.

Known as the Birthplace of American Liberty, one of the most important American regions is only 11 miles from our city – perfect for a day trip! The Lexington Historical Commission provides an extensive list of the histories and the architectural significance of the town.

Nantucket

The local island is synonymous with a whale of a tale. The picturesque fishing village encompasses 110-miles of coastline that are free and open to the public. There’s plenty of fishing vessels to explore, including a whaling museum that showcases the dangerous, albeit lucrative, industry
