4 Tips for Decorating Your Luxury Apartment
Spring is in the air and that means it’s time for a change! What better way to shake off the winter blues than with an apartment makeover? Here at the Devonshire we are committed to making your new luxury apartment feel like home. Whether you plan on staying in Boston for just a year or two, like some of our international residents, or you want to make Devonshire your home for the next 30 years, we want your apartment to be a reflection of who you are as a person. We will allow most design choices (like painting walls) and can even help you fit those new curtains to your windows if need be! If you are thinking about redecorating this spring, here are a few design tips for decorating your luxury apartment:
1. Use floating shelves to show off your mementos and photos.
Floating shelves are a great way to display your favorite photos and knickknacks without wasting valuable floor space. You can stagger them or even cut longer shelves down to fit any size wall space. Floating shelves are also a great way to take advantage of the high ceilings your luxury apartment might have so eyes are always being drawn upwards. The best thing about floating shelves is that it’s easy to swap out decor elements, so you can change your apartment’s “vibe” as often as you want.
2. Create gallery wall.
A gallery wall lets you show off your best family and vacation photos and makes it easy to add to you ever growing collection! The best gallery walls are able to grow and grow without anyone being able to tell where it started and incorporate a variety of frame sizes and shapes to create a focal point for your luxury apartment. The only thing that really matters is to pick a color scheme.

3. Use clear chairs to make the space feel bigger.
Heavy, dark furniture can dominate any room, making it feel much smaller than it actually is. If you don’t want your living/dining space to feel cramped or closed, why not opt for clear chairs and tables? Using clear chairs or a glass-top table helps to visually expand the space and make it feel bigger.
4. Use fabrics that speak to your design style.
A fabulous pattern piece of cloth makes for a great skirted table, which can easily hide a shelving unit that holds dining room extras. Curtains can also be used to conceal built-in bookcases or shelves, hiding any clutter and adding a pop of color or pattern to the room. And hanging several sets of drapes along a wall gives your walls some pizzazz without the permanency of wallpaper or paint. It’s great for luxury apartment dwellers that love to change up their design style!
