June Events to Enjoy in Boston

Summer is just around the corner and the warm weather is finally here! This means that it is time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather! All of the following events take place outside, and there is definitely something for everyone. Here are five events you can enjoy this June.

Dragon Boat Festival

The Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is a cultural event that you won’t want to miss. Immerse yourself in Asian culture by enjoying the Dragon Boat races, eating tasty Asian foods, watching a traditional dragon dance, taking in the art demonstrations, listening to traditional music, and more. Located along the Charles River near Harvard, the races take place on June 9th and the festival itself takes place on June 10th.

Bunker Hill Day Parade

The Bunker Hill Day Parade takes place on June 10, 2018 from 12:30pm – 2:30pm. This is an important parade that dates back to 1786 to commemorate the first major battle of the America Revolution. The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on Breed’s Hill in Charleston on June 17, 1775. Enjoy local marching bands, sports teams, re-enactment groups, police motorcycles, and more as the parade travels from the intersection of Vine Street and Bunker Hill Street, down Main Street to Winthrop Street.

Boston Pride Week

Celebrate love and equality with the city by taking part in Boston Pride Week, which takes place from June 1 – 10, 2018. Pride Week is chalk full of events including the flag raising ceremony, the High Heel Dash For Charity, AIDS Walk Boston, the Back Bay Ringers Concert, and the Pride Parade, which takes place on June 9th at noon starting at Copley Square. Scooper Bowl Ice Cream Fest

Combine eating ice cream with fighting cancer at the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl Ice Cream Fest, which is now in its 36th year. This is the largest all you can eat ice cream festival in the nation! Taking place from June 5 -7, 2018 the Scooper Bowl Ice Cream Fest at City Hall Plaza will indulge whatever your taste buds are craving. Visit the website to order tickets, check out available flavors, and more information about the event. City Hall Plaza is an easy 5-minute walk from the Devonshire Apartments.

Free Friday Flicks at the Esplanade

The Esplanade comes alive in the summer and one of the highlights is the Free Friday Flicks event. Starting on Friday June 22, 2018, and going until the end of August, you’ll be able to enjoy free movies that begin at sunset. Movies are appropriate for all ages, so you can bring the kids. Times and movies will be listed here. These vents are all a great way to spend the month and welcome the start of summer!
