Outdoor Movie Experiences in Boston for Summer 2018
If you love movies but don’t want to be cooped up in a movie theatre for hours this summer, you’re in luck. Watching movies outdoors is a treat that only comes around when the weather is warm. You don’t want to miss out! Here are the outdoor movie experiences you can enjoy throughout Boston this summer.
Magic 106.7 Family Film Festival
Taking place at Prudential Center’s South Garden during July and August you will enjoy
free family friendly movies each Saturday. July 21st will feature the movie, Coco, Wonder will play on July 28th, The Incredibles will show on August 4th. Check here for a full list of dates and movies. Arrive at 6pm to enjoy entertainment, giveaways, and activities. All movies will start at sundown.
Free Friday Flicks
Free Friday Flicks is considered to be a Boston summertime tradition. Enjoy family friendly flicks at the Hatch Shell throughout July and August. The lineup includes: Elf on July 20th, Cars 3 on July 27th, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on August 3rd, and Coco on August 10. Go here for a complete list of dates and movies. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and some snacks! All movies begin at sundown.
Sunset Cinema takes place on the lawn of the Museum of Fine Arts. Ninety minutes before the movie you will be treated to live music, lawn games, and art making. Movies are free and begin at sunset. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, snacks, and drinks (non-alcoholic, but you can purchase alcohol on site). This movie series is geared toward adults. On Thursday August 9th the movie, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, will be screening.
Friday Movies by Moonlight
On Friday’s at the Boston Harbour Hotel by Rowes Wharf, you can enjoy movies under the stars. Some of this year’s movies include: “Splash” on July 20, “Wizard of Oz” on July 27, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” on August 3, and “The Karate Kid” on August 10. View a full list of movies at this link. Mayor’s Outdoor Movie Night
Mayor Walsh is once again bringing family friendly movies to different parks around town this August. Movies start at dusk. The Nutjob 2 can be seen at Dorchester’s Town Field on August 2nd. Leap will be shown on August 6th at Roslindale’s Fallon Playground. On August 8th the Lego Ninjago Movie will be screening at Dorchester’s Ronan Park. The rest of the movie lineup includes:

August 13th: Peter Rabbit at Medal of Honor Park.
August 16th: Sing at Roxbury’s Ramsay Park.
